Check Your Indoor Air Quality During National Lung Month

The Lung Association of Canada designates November as National Lung Month to raise awareness about the importance of lung health for Canadians. As home comfort specialists, Canada HVAC wants to raise awareness about the air quality inside in your home and how it can affect your health and wellbeing.

Did you know that indoor air quality can be worse than outside air? Activities like cooking and smoking can definitely contribute to poor indoor air quality; however, even things like furniture, carpets and cleaning products contribute pollution. Many household items release VOCs — including formaldehyde — into your indoor air. Other causes of poor indoor air quality can come from bacteria or mould that grows as a result of a water leak and poor ventilation in your home.1

To ensure your home has the best indoor air quality, make sure you’re replacing furnace filters regularly. Swapping out filters can make a huge difference in how much dust, hair and other pollutants are removed from the air before being circulated around your home. There are also media filters available that can trap and filter out smaller particles.

If you require a more comprehensive approach to indoor air quality, you could always install an air purification system to scrub the air of even the smallest allergen or install a humidifier to ensure there are proper moisture levels throughout your home.

During National Lung Month, make sure that your home is lung friendly and your indoor air quality promotes healthy living!
