The Difference Between EnerGuide and ENERGY STAR Labels

There are a number of different ratings and labels on furnaces and air conditioners. If you’ve been considering upgrading your home comfort systems, you will have definitely noticed the EnerGuide and/or ENERGY STAR ratings. Many homeowners are confused about the difference between the two ratings.

Did you know that Canada was one of the first countries to adopt a labelling program for home appliances?1 Natural Resources Canada ensures that all energy-efficiency claims are verified and there is a common testing standard among all manufacturers. These results are communicated to the public through the EnerGuide label.

EnerGuide
This label helps consumers compare different models by providing an impartial rating of the unit’s energy performance. The label contains the annual energy consumption—listed in kilowatt-hours (kWh)—and an energy consumption indicator that shows how that particular system is comparable to other models.

ENERGY STAR
The international ENERGY STAR logo can be found on EnerGuide labels and indicates that the particular model meets or exceeds high efficiency standards in their category. Choosing systems with the ENERGY STAR label can help you save money because they require less energy to run.

All of our Gold, Silver and Bronze furnaces and air conditioners are ENERGY STAR rated. Additionally, you can compare product specifications right online, from the comfort of your home.
